Welcome to our Website

Glenn grew up east of Windsor, MO and graduated from WHS in 1968. He helped neighbors row crop and put up hay during the summer months. Glenn and Jane Ann were married in 1973. She also was born and raised in Windsor. We have 2 sons, Barry, who is married with a son and daughter, and Andy, who lives in Alaska. We are both approaching retirement in the next 3 or 4 years, Glenn from the US postal service and Jane Ann as a pharmacy technician. We plan to continue raising cattle and do some traveling. So, if you e-mail us and we do not reply in a couple of days, please call and check with us by phone. Farm visits are welcome, just call to confirm we are home.

A & B Homecoming Beef would like all mail to please be sent to P.O. Box 15 Leeton, MO 64761. Checks and other forms of communication will be secure this way. Our e-mail address is javgrv@embarqmail.com or sales@abhomecomingbeef.com. We are 1 1/2 miles south of Leeton, MO on HWY 2. We have been in the cattle business for 15 years. Our cattle eat only grass from our pastures, which are not fertilized. We use rotational grazing and have 17 acres of native warm season grass to use in hot weather and fescue and red and white clover for spring and fall. If we get some rain we stockpile 40 acres to use in late fall into winter. This way, with salt blocks and non-medicated mineral supplement, our cattle are fed little hay. The heifers are given alfalfa before and after calving during their first and second pregnancy to help keep them good and fat.

Our cattle are never fed any grain. We do not use antibiotics or growth hormones. This way is the old way. It takes about half again as long to finish cattle this way versus the commercial way of taking cattle to feed lots and stuffing the grain and implants to them. Because of this I feel that big business will not get into grass finishing.

All of our cows are Gelbvieh. The two bulls were bought in 2005 and 2007, from John Rotert. They are registered Angus forage tested bulls. The 2005 bull was bought to keep his heifers. He is very gentle and does great on only grass. The younger bull is used to breed these heifers and he also only gets grass and does well. John Rotert is a blind rancher from Montrose, MO a much respected and tremendous person. Bob Harriman is his partner. They have been producing Angus bulls for years and have very gentle animals with great genetics and dispositions. All of our cattle come from the Gelbvieh Angus cross, are very gentle and do great on grass. We respect them and enjoy taking care of them. We feel pride and pleasure in every day upkeeping of our small 80 acre place.
